Modern Billiards: A Complete Text-book of the Game

This is an antique work primarily about balkline billiards and cushion caroms, which were later supplanted by three-cushion billiards (a recent idea when this book was published). Various aspects of it may still be of interest to players of three-cushion and other carom (pocketless) billiards games such as yotsudama (four-ball). Its extensive list of records holders and tournament champions may also be of historical interest to researchers of the sport, and its tutorial material on shot types is relevant to all billiards-family games, including pool and snooker (though a bit of the terminology has changed in the interim, and there are modern and more specific works for particular disciplines today).

The uncredited text has generally been attributed to Benjamin Garno, based on an entry in a period book catalog.
